A. Mainstreaming or Inclusion Program
The school's mainstreaming or inclusion program provides education to children with special needs in a regular classroom setting and alongside their peers who have regular needs. The school's teaching methodology allows the teacher to be reactive and adoptive to the individual needs of the children without compromising the quality of learning.
Mainstreaming or Inclusion is not for everyone, a good understanding of the child's needs are important to achieve a successful program. To do this, appropriate assessment is necessary to determine the child's readiness into the program. Children who have been successfully mainstreamed have:
- Higher chances for academic achievement
- Higher self-esteem
- Better social skills
- Better communication skills
B. One-on-one, Dyad or Group Sped Program
This program provides a more directed approach to the child's education by focusing specifically to the needs of the child. The core teaching methodology of this program is in it's Individualize Education Plan where a team of educational experts prepare and map out an educational program unique only to the child.
Depending on the child's ability and skills, children under this program is also given an opportunity to join and interact with their peers in the regular program with the goal of helping them improve their social skills.
The program helps children with:
a. communication handicaps, language and speech disorder
b. Autism
Spectrum Disorder
c. Asperger’s
Syndrome
d. Mental
Retardation
e. Down Syndrome
C. Deaf Education Program
The school’s deaf and hard of hearing
program was designed using the best practices of deaf schools both here and in
the United States.
A full range of developmentally
appropriate subjects with goals and concepts aligned with
the standards set forth by the National
Association for the Education of Young Children in Washington D.C. and the
Philippine Department of Education forms the program’s curriculum structure.
The school uses both the Total Communication
and the Bilingual/Bicultural approach to teaching. The two approaches allow the program to be
more adaptive and specific to the individual needs of the children.
The program helps children who are
profoundly deaf, hearing impaired and children with cochlear implants
